Professor Hartmann is an inorganic chemist whose primary interests include the synthesis, characterization, and reactivity of novel transition metal coordination complexes. He has a particular interest in complexes containing late transition metal (groups 9, 10, and 11) metal-ligand multiple bonds. Such complexes are quite rare and can exhibit interesting reactivity such as C-H bond and small molecule (NO, CO, CO2, N2O) activation.
