Amoolya Rajappa is a doctoral research scholar in the Department of Media Studies, at Christ University, Bengaluru. Her interdisciplinary doctoral work attempts to examine the media infrastructure and use of mobile phones and/or other technologies by migrant laborers in the city of Bengaluru. She was a Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellow at the School of Communication, Florida State University, Tallahassee in 2022.听
After completing her MA from Birmingham City University, U.K on a full-waiver scholarship, she served various stints as a journalist in leading news organizations across India. Currently, Ms. Rajappa is also an independent journalist who writes on issues related to internal migration and displacement in contemporary India.听
